Valmet Oyj to supply automation and quality control systems to Norske Skog Bruck in Austria

Valmet will provide Valmet DNA automation systemand Valmet IQ Quality Control SystemNorske Skog’s PM 3 paper machine at its Bruck plant in Austria. Norske Skog Bruck selected Valmet automation systems based on good credentials in technology, service support and low cost of ownership. Installation is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The order is included in orders received from Valmet for the first quarter of 2022. The value of the order is not disclosed.

Technical delivery information
Valmet’s delivery is part of Norske Skog’smajor paper machine conversion project to switch Bruck’s PM 3 production from newsprint to recycled containerboard, which will introduce a competitive capacity of 210,000 tonnes of containerboard.
Valmet delivery includes system design, engineering, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing and installation of the Valmet DNA automation system. The Distributed Control System (DCS) will cover PM 3 including OCC (old corrugated container)and the extension of the treatment plant. All controls are on a single platform that allows users easy access to data and efficient collaboration. The scalable solution supports extensions of Valmet Industrial Internetapps.
the Valmet IQ Quality Control System(QCS) will be provided for PM 3, including scanners, associated measurements, Valmet IQ Moisturizerand state-of-the-art multivariable MD (machine steer) and CD (transverse steer) controlsto deliver accurate and stable sheet quality under demanding machine conditions, improving paper quality and efficiency while reducing costs. The system is completed by Valmet IQ Dilution Profilersfor advanced positioning of the headbox valves and with Valmet IQ Web Monitoring Systemfor monitoring critical process areas and to help operators analyze the root causes of web execution disruptions.
