Marking India’s entry into the esteemed platform, Tata Chemicals becomes the only Indian company to be conferred
Mumbai, 31 January 2022: Tata Chemicals, an industry leader in science-based products and solutions, won the award in the Circular Economy and Carbon Neutral Innovations category at the 15th Annual Quality Innovations Awards 2021. With the first participation of India among 17 other countries and a total of 561 innovations, Tata Chemicals is the only Indian company to have won this international event. A total of 25 prizes for the best innovation in different categories were awarded. Winning projects were judged based on their novelty value, usability, learnability, customer focus and effectiveness.
Tata Chemicals’ award-winning app “Wealth from Waste: Dead Batteries to Pigments – Cobalt aluminate” focused on converting hazardous metals extracted from waste Li-ion batteries into value-added chemistry that also reduces the impact of mining and ecological damage. The Total Solar Reflectance (TSR) values of these pigments are comparable to those made with virgin raw materials.
