Stock market update: FMCG shares fall as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in Thursday’s session.

Laboratoires JHS Svendgaard (up 6.55%), Nakoda Group (up 2.17%), P&G Hygiene (up 1.90%), Prataap Snacks (up 1.19%) , Marico (up 1.01%), Dabur India (up 0.87%), Hindustan Unilever (up 0.81%), Umang Dairies (up 0.57%), Colgate Palmolive (India) (up 0.45%) and Gillette India (up 0.43%) were among the top winners.

Varun Beverages (down 2.75%), Tasty Bite Eatables (down 2.37%), DFM Foods (down 1.87%), Hatsun Agro Product Ltd (down 1.69%) , Jyothy Labs (down 1.40%), Emami (down 1.39%), Future Consumer (down 1.36%), Parag Milk (down 1.34%), Heritage Foods (down 1.24%) and Godrej Consumer Products (down 1.08%) were among the biggest losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended down 9.65 points at 17,203.95, while the 30-stock BSE Sensex index closed 12.17 points lower at 57,794.32.

NTPC (up 3.05%), HCL Technologies (up 1.95%), Cipla (up 1.84%), IndusInd Bank (up 1.77%), Dr Reddys Laboratories ( up 1.48%), Wipro (up 1.48%), Titan Company Ltd (up 1.46%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (up 1.15%), Tata Consultancy (up 1.06%) and SBI Life (up 0.81%) are among the top winners of the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto (down 1.89%), Reliance Industries (down 1.81%), UPL Ltd (down 1.54%), JSW Steel (down 1.54%) %), Tata Steel (down 1.37%), Tata Motors (down 1.18%), Hindalco Industries (down 1.01%), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.92%) , Indian Oil Corporation (down 0.85%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 0.83%) closed in the red.
