VOC + NOX sensor for indoor air quality applications is now available worldwide

Sensirion, the expert in environmental detection, presents the SGP41 VOC + NOX sensor for indoor air quality applications. The sensor is designed as a digital smart switch and control unit for air handling devices such as air purifiers.

Good air quality is an important part of a healthy indoor environment, as indoor air pollution can have harmful effects on our health. There are many potential and common hazards in indoor air, such as VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which are commonly found in building materials, furniture and cleaning products, among others, and are emitted by humans, and NOX (nitrogen oxides), which are a by-product of combustion. Exposure to these pollutants can be limited by ensuring that confined spaces have adequate ventilation. In addition, air handling devices are used to remove harmful gases from indoor environments and thus prevent unsanitary situations. Equipped with Sensirion’s new SGP41, air purifiers get smart by reliably monitoring VOCs and NOX at any time and automatically suppressing these gas emissions when the appropriate filters are installed.

VOC + NOX sensor offers a solution for two complete sensors on a single chip, facilitating design and reducing design costs. The two sensor signals processed by Sensirion’s powerful gas index algorithm can be used directly to automatically trigger the removal of gaseous pollutants from indoor air by air handlers without the need for interaction user-device. This sensor solution is therefore well suited to the constant monitoring of VOCs and NOX levels, including potentially harmful events that are imperceptible to humans. In addition, automatic control of air handling devices based on signals from SGP41 saves energy by turning them off once VOCs and / or NOX events have been taken care of.
